Tourism Team Coming to Homerville!
Posted on November 27th, 2012

December 3-6, 2012 the State of Georgia's Tourism Product Development Office will visit Clinch County in an effort to develop its tourism potential. During the Resource Team visit, the team members will work with local leadership to assess the portfolio of tourism related assets within the community relevant to the areas of heritage and cultural tourism, Ecotourism, and Agritourism. The Resource Team’s objectives include inventorying and discussing those assets that were the most likely candidates for developing a tourism based economy in Clinch County, as well as identifying obstacles that might impede the implementation of such an effort.

Over the four day days the team will tour of the historic commercial district in Homerville, the Huxford-Spear Genealogical Library, the Okefenokee Swamp area in Fargo, as well as surrounding sites through out the county. The team will conduct interviews with stakeholders during two sessions. The first session is set December 4th from 1-5 p.m. at the Eco-Lodge in Fargo and the second session will be December 5th from 2-6 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Homerville Municipal Complex. To participate in the community round table interviews please contact Robbie Lee or Jenny Robbins.

The visit will conclude on December 6th with a summary meeting where local officials, the Chamber of Commerce, as well as other organizations, stakeholders and residents are invited to attend.

At a later date the team will return to conduct a public presentation of the findings and distribution of the complete report and tourism development plan for Clinch County.
